Listening to: Silence

1. I apologise. I don’t think i’ll be able to conjure up readings for this week. Too close to prelims, too many consultations, too little time. So people, delve into your resourceful spirit and dig around the web, flip the newspapers to see what you can read up k?

2. More answers to the compre assignments given this term (four in total, but somehow i don’t have the sports one in soft copy. argh. sorry).

1. Assignment 2 (Globalisation)
2. Assignment 3 (Euthanasia)
3. Assignment 4 (American hegemony)

Seeing is Believing

Listening to: My new jazz album

So it seems not many of you managed to catch the documentary I recommended? Sigh. how often can you say your GP tutor encouraged you to watch tv for research purposes?

But not to fret, it seems that they’re showing it again soon. So here are the details:

Documentary title: Inside: Undercover in North Korea
Date: 27th August (monday)
Time: 4-5pm (It’s study leave period so i think more of you can watch at this time?)
Channel: Channel 11 (National Geographic Channel)

Seeing is really believing. Listening me recount is not good enough.
watch it if you can. really does get you thinking.

and oh, it’s so strange how this state keeps popping up in front of me. check out this blog: http://www.oikono.com/wordpress/ Has an account of a Singaporean who went to N Korea. check out the pictures at least.

ps: any chance anyone will be watching and has a dvd recorder? think it’s a great show to record for future use. tell me if you meet the above criteria!

pps: just dawned on me that i haven’t uploaded new readings. oops. sorry. promise i’ll be back in business soon. once i finish marking the last batch of aq :P

Listening to: Michael Buble’s That’s Life

Having gone through the AQ this week, i’ve made mention to this state quite a few times. So for those of you who are curious, here is the official govt website: http://www.korea-dpr.com/

And for those of us who want to check out what the country is like, catch this documentary: “Inside: Undercover in North Korea”  on National Geographic Channel (Channel 11)  on Monday, 20th August at 10pm.

I haven’t watched it myself but am definitely curious to see what glimpses we can get of N Korea.  So catch it if you’re interested!

a tutor’s ramblings

Listening to: the silence of my room

Hands up, whoever’s tired! *nods* yes, i can imagine a sea of raised hands.
Hang in there, people. Remember it’s about lasting the journey and not burning out in the middle. I’ve been hearing the complaints of lack of sleep, the mounting tutorials (still!) and have witnessed people flaring up at others. So indeed, term 3 is a terrible, terrible time for year 2s. But always remember that life could be a lot worse. So this may be our fates, so it really is how we control this fate of ours.

My consultation schedule for Week 10 should be out by Monday (sorry for being so delayed).. and i’m not entirely sure if i shld have classes on monday and tuesday cos:

a. It depends on whether i’ve finished nagging
b. whether you are free in the first place.

But we’ll see. am worried cos there’s only one me and 58 of you. hmm. do i have 58 hours to spare for the study leave period? Note: Evaluate tutor’s comment – She is making an assumption that all her students will be seeking consultation during study leave.

right. if you’ve realised by then, this is just rather random rambling

The Singaporean Youth

Listening to Corrinne May’s Shelter

Hmm..i’ve been on this blog for the entire nday weekend! in case you guys think i’m really free, no no no. i’m busy marking all your assignments and stuff k? so don’t worry..haha. your tutor’s not slacking while i’m sure you guys were all hard at work for the last few days.

But i have to share with you my thoughts after reading today’s S**day Times. have you read it yet? If you haven’t. Here are the three articles i took from the papers today.

Funny how all three articles paint quite a picture of today’s Singapore youths. And not a flattering picture I must add. I sure hope none of you use five different facial cleansers to wash your face in the morning right? :P

Some of them are quite amusing but remember there’s a “bigger” message that you can get from every article. Since the focus is on youths here, share your thoughts about these articles, won’t you? Comment away!
